REQUIREMENTS FOR CLAIMING THE BONUS
The most important thing is that the renovation of the property must not have started before January 2024. It does not matter if the kitchen has been renovated but you buy a sofa, the expense is still deductible, but the renovation work on the individual property unit, or on the common parts of the condominium, must start on January 1, 2025, and the furniture expenses must be incurred in 2026.
BONUSES AND APPLIANCES
With regard to the 2026 appliance bonus, it should be noted that expenses for the purchase of large appliances with energy labels are eligible for subsidies:
- class A+ or higher;
- Class A or higher for ovens,
The 2026 appliance bonus covers the cost of purchasing:
- refrigerators and freezers;
- washing machines and dryers;
- dishwasher;
- cooking appliances, ovens, and electric hot plates.
Transportation and assembly costs for goods are also eligible for the 2026 furniture bonus, provided they are paid by bank transfer.
The furniture bonus is ONLY available to those who have carried out building renovation work that is eligible for tax relief. The furniture bonus is available to taxpayers residing in Italy or abroad, provided they are subject to IRPEF (personal income tax) or IRES (corporate income tax), with a clear and orderly explanation.
HOW MUCH YOU SAVE
Taxpayers who carry out a series of renovations eligible for the renovation bonus in 2025 are entitled to deduct 50% of the expenses incurred to change the furnishings of their home or a common area of their condominium. For 2026, the spending limit is €5,000. The furniture bonus therefore covers the cost ofpurchasing new furniture, large appliances, and furnishings.
HOW REFUNDS ARE PROCESSED
To obtain the bonus and benefit from the deduction, the total deduction due must be divided into 10 equal installments. This means thattaxpayers who benefit from the furniture bonus are entitled to deduct one installment each year from their income tax using the 730 and Redditi forms, formerly known as Unico. In particular, each installment must be declared each year in the tax return, starting with the one following the year in which the expenses were incurred.
Therefore, in the 730 or Unico form for 2027, you will begin to declare the expenses incurred in 2026.
PAYMENT METHODS
To take advantage of the furniture and appliance bonus, the purchase must be paid for exclusively via:
- bank or postal transfer, accompanied by a specific payment description. What is therefore required is a so-called "bonus mobili" transfer, an ordinary transfer complete with: the tax code of the beneficiary of the deduction; the VAT number or tax code of the seller; the date of purchase; the reason for payment "bonus mobili": indicating the specific wording that identifies the type of bonus for which the tax relief on the purchase is due.
- ordinary bank or postal transfer.
- credit cards, debit cards, or ATM cards. In the case of cards, payment is considered to have been made on the day the card is used, and not on the day the account is debited.
However, payment by bank check or cash is not permitted.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The following documentation must be kept for 10 years:
- All invoices for expenses incurred;
- Receipt of the bank transfer with specific reference;
- the transaction receipt;
- The documentation of charges on the account (for those who use cards).
- Renovation declaration, or, alternatively, municipal authorization document indicating the start date of the works; if not strictly necessary, a declaration in lieu of affidavit is also acceptable.
